for those of us that have sold it, i think it sad that in our puritanical society a man's sexual adventures are thought more immoral than another than has started a war that has cost the lives of >600,000 people.

Re: Spitzer and prostitution...
Thu, March 13, 2008 - 6:57 AMThis was a political witch hunt by the people that believe (yeah they really do believe) that killing hundreds of thousands of people is moral but sex is immoral. They are prepared to prove it using laws that were wrong when first enacted in 1910 to bring down a person who has done a lot of good for woman’s reproductive rights and fought corporations ripping people off. But then when you give Nazis power you get torture and death.
It won't end until these moral liars drive the country to ruin. Maybe from the ashes we can rebuild and when we do eliminate all the laws put in place to restrice people doing nothing wrong. -

Re: Spitzer and prostitution...
Fri, March 21, 2008 - 2:24 AMThe people who "Caught" Spitzer weren't even looking for him, from what I read. They were investigating why public accounts were being used to pass money to shell companies that turned out to be high-end escort agencies. They traced the money back and found Spitzer at the end of the trail. That is the main reason why he is part of an FBI investigation. He used public account to, at the very least, funnel money to the escort agencies to feed his habit for prostitutes. There are serious questions as to wether he actually used public money to pay for the pros he visited with. That would piss me off, and I have no issues with escorts if folks are actually using their own money to pay for them.
I say it was a habit, because from what I heard he has spent at least $80 000 dollars just at this one agency.
I could have some of my facts wrong, but the investigators were not originally looking for a way to get Spitzer, instead Spitzer was hyper stupid and also doing corrupt things with public money/accounts. -

Re: Spitzer and prostitution...
Fri, March 21, 2008 - 6:53 AMFrom every account that I read Spitzer used his own accounts. His money never public funds. The escort agency was being investigated for many months only when they found Spitzer did they rush to make it public. None of the other "johns" have ever been mentions. It was fortunate for them that he fell into their lap but they used the opportunity to take out a problem.
It has been reported that Spitzer's next move was to go after banks for pradatory lending. That has all stopped.

Re: Spitzer and prostitution...
Sat, March 29, 2008 - 12:36 AMRegardless of whether or not you think prostitution should be legal (happen to think it should be), I'm really glad that asshole got burned by the same laws he had passed, and that he arrested so many others for violating.
Arresting/prosecuting people for victimless crimes is bad enough, but to then go out and commit those crimes yourself is the worst of the worst.
I hope Spitzer burns in his own hell. -

Re: Spitzer and prostitution...
Sat, March 29, 2008 - 6:24 AMI agree that Spitzer should burn for his hypocrisy. As Barney Frank said recently he never breaks a law that he helped to pass. I am just angry that he would jeopardize the work he was doing to clean up Wall Street. That he fell into the trap to take him out. -
