I need quick bullet points, and I have this:

*Prostitution (sex acts for money) is illegal

*Massage is legal, unless you massage the genitals

*Professional domination is legal, as long as there is no sexual interaction

*Pornography is legal as long as you have documentation of age

*Exotic dancing is legal, lap dancing is legal, but only under certain restrictions (ex: nude establishments must prohibit sale of alcohol)

I wanted to focus on those areas for this part, but I want to make sure I have the laws right. Anyone?

  • As an occasional faux girl, and faux whore, but real attorney, I thought I'd mention that the answer to you question depends on the jurisdiction. For instance, each of the 50 states have law regulating professional erotic behaviors. Each county may pass ordinances dealing with such behaviors. The fed-goverment has statutes dealing with trafficing and the such.
    • ....which is just what makes the laws around either prostitution or any sex related issues so complex it seems there....even though in the UK the laws are legality around prostitution but soliciting is the big no, no....in the past 6 yrs that I have had contact with USA sexworkers, it seems a lot more complex in its structure...therefore more confusing & liable to corruption, either intentionally or by lack of national definition, if you see what I mean?
      yes, no?
  • The laws are incredibly complex and often done on a state by state and city by city (even sometimes country by county basis). Are you trying to bullet point one state in particular ? That might help you.

Otherwise, I'm not sure that you can do it for the whole country since each state has it's own prostitution laws.

--*Prostitution (sex acts for money) is illegal.

In CA if you make an offer to do this (but don't actually do it) you're still doing something illegal. That's why here they say that "Prostitution is a crime of words". That allows you to get arrested without actually having to have sex with the officer (although sometimes they do that anyway, of course).

Also, if a man offers to pay to touch your tits for money (for sexual gratification) then that's prostitution. Same is true if you pay a man to touch your tits (for sexual gratification). That's because women's bare tits are defined as a "lewd" bodypart.

However, if he pays you to touch his nipples (even if it turns you guys on) it's not prostitution. That's because In CA men's nipples are not considered "lewd" body parts. This goes back to why women can't have their shirts off in public unless they are wearing pasties or covering their nipples here. Go figure...

The person who said that the point was probably to keep all these laws so complex and mysterious (so that money could be skimmed off the sex workers basically) was correct. Most people in the biz don't even know the laws where they are...they are just hoping that they aren't breaking them and that they won't get caught.
